I stopped eating meat in 1988 after reading a book a college professor recommended, Animal Liberation by Peter Singer. I gave up dairy and eggs almost two years ago after visiting the Catskill Animal Sanctuary, where my daughter was an intern, and reading books by its founder, Kathy Stevens.

And everything I continue to learn breaks my heart and strengthens my resolve to do what I can to end the suffering of our fellow animals. And to reduce the destruction of the planet wreaked by industrial animal agriculture.

Vegan Outreach is an organization I respect and support. Their Adopt a College program reaches about a million students each semester and convinces many of them to change their eating habits in order to prevent animal suffering. I did my first leafleting (with rescue dog Charlie as my partner) on the National Day of College Outreach last month and found the Bloomsburg University students very supportive and receptive.

For every $100 in donations, I'll take 2 dozen homemade vegan cookies to a local business/group for sampling.

Thank you for helping the animals.
